The National Minimum Wage

The adult minimum wage will rise to £5.35 an hour from 1 October 2006.

The Government announced this on 20 March 2006 after accepting the Low Pay Commission’s recommendation and taking the view that the economy is sufficiently strong for this 5.9 per cent increase to take effect.

The rate for young workers aged 18 to 21 will increase to £4.45 an hour.

The rate for workers aged 16-17 will rise from £3 to £3.30 an hour

The accommodation offset will rise to £4.15 a day
