Pay for key roles in IT

Skills determine pay levels in tighter labour market

IDS conducted a survey of pay for IT staff in Spring 2007. The results show that skills, along with performance, play an important role in IT staff pay progression, and that recruitment to trainee roles is largely skills-based rather than graduate-focused. The findings on pay were broadly in line with official statistics on average pay for IT staff, and indicate that the sector has recovered following a slowdown after the dot.com boom.
