IDS Pay Report 969, January 2007

Pay in hotels

Regional pay differences reduced in latest survey

Our latest survey of pay and conditions in hotels shows that the National Minimum Wage continues to have an influence over basic rates for lowest-paid employees in the sector and indicates that migrant workers are being utilised in workforces throughout the hotel sector, particularly in London and the South East. Differences in pay rates between hotels in London and the South East and those elsewhere have narrowed, compared with the 2005 survey.
