Pay in construction

High industry-wide pay rises driven by growth and skills needs

In a sector dominated by national, industry-wide agreements, pay settlements continue to be higher in construction than in other sectors of the economy. The industry is continuing to experience strong growth, especially in the South East and East of England, which is driven largely by schools building and the Olympics build programme and skill requirements and issues surrounding recruitment and retention continue to put upward pressure on pay.
