The 12-month change in the all-items Retail Prices Index (RPI) was 3.7 per cent in the year to January 2010, up from 2.4 per cent in December 2009.

In the year to January the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 3.5 per cent, up from 2.9 per cent in December.

The retail prices index excluding mortgage interest payments (the underlying rate, or RPIX) rose by 4.6 per cent in the year to January 2010, up from 3.8 per cent in the year to December.
