The adult minimum wage is £5.80 an hour from 1 October 2009.
The rate for young workers aged 18 to 21 is £4.83 an hour.
The youth rate, payable for workers aged 16-17, is £3.57 an hour.
From 1 October 2010 the adult rate of the National Minimum Wage will be increased to £5.93 an hour.
From 1 October 2010 the adult minimum wage will apply from the age of 21, instead of 22.
The rate for young workers aged 18 to 20 will rise to £4.92 an hour.
The rate for workers aged 16 and 17 will be £3.64 an hour.
