Extract from IDS Executive Compensation Review 320 Top pay in local government, public bodies and agencies To provide a picture of top pay across the public sector, every year we look at the senior executive remuneration details published in the annual accounts of selected public bodies, government agencies, public corporations and local authorities. Our latest findings are based on the accounts of 31 public bodies and corporations, 37 executive agencies and 40 local authorities all with year-end dates of 31 March 2007. This article provides information on the aggregate pay levels of directors in selected public bodies and executive agencies covering over 13 positions, as well as further analysis on lead executive pay. The remuneration policies of a number of high profile public bodies and executive agencies are discussed as is top pay in local government. Tables provide data on the range of earnings for directors in both public bodies and executive agencies and remuneration levels within both these areas. A detailed table provides information on remuneration levels for the lead executives in selected local authorities.
