Extract from IDS Executive Compensation Review 304, June 2006 ECR survey of health and safety managers’ pay‘Health and safety (H&S) is an employer’s fundamental responsibility,’ says ITV in its latest corporate responsibility report, emphasising just how important the issue has become, not only for companies, but also for shareholders and wider stakeholders. For this reason, we regularly conduct our own survey of the pay and benefits of those specialists responsible for implementing H&S policies. Our latest survey covers the most senior non-board H&S manager and deputy manager positions in 18 companies. The article includes latest pay settlement levels for health and safety managers, as well as detailed tables showing aggregate salary levels by number of sites, number of employees and number of direct reports. Organisations featured in the survey ranged from large employers with around 19,000 employees to smaller firms with 190 employees. A separate table provides salary information for health and safety managers and their deputies. Bonus and benefits information is also provided.
