Assistant Researcher/Researcher, IDS Executive Compensation Review

The IDS Executive Compensation Review (ECR) is a subscription-based monthly journal which provides reward specialists with up-to-date information on all aspects of pay practice for directors, managers and professionals. Each year, subscribers to the service also receive several in-depth Research Files covering topics of related interest.

In addition, the ECR team produces several detailed off-subscription reports on directors’ pay and company cars. Where practicable, the team also contributes to contract research, conferences and training work.

Key responsibilities

  • Collecting pay data and related information by telephone, e-mail and company visit
  • Writing up information collected for publication
  • Writing feature articles for the IDS Executive Compensation Review
  • Visiting companies for case studies and writing up the results for publication
  • Monitoring pay developments for specified sectors and groups
  • Attending briefings, seminars and conferences
  • Contributing to Research Files and off-subscription reports
  • Participating in contract research.

  • Demonstrably excellent writing skills

  • The ability to meet deadlines
  • The ability to deal successfully with a variety of contacts, including those at senior level
  • Interest in reward issues and enthusiastic readiness to learn.

Desirable

  • Academic qualification in industrial relations, HR management or other related areas
  • Knowledge of reward and other employment issues
  • Knowledge of statistics
  • Experience of working in an HR department
  • Experience of or training in research methods
  • Knowledge of remuneration reports in annual accounts
  • Experience with database, spreadsheet and statistics software packages

The Assistant Researcher grade is a training grade for new graduates or those new to pay research. Recruits should expect to be promoted to Researcher within 12 months if they make satisfactory progress. Applicants with significant amounts of directly relevant experience may be appointed at the Researcher level.
