HR Policy & Practice

The latest HR policy and practice research from IDS looks at some of the ways organisations are seeking to arrange work types into job families. The Study examines the main stages involved in designing a job family structure: from grouping roles into broad occupational or functional groups and dividing them into levels or grades, to aligning pay levels with the new framework. It also highlights how job families can provide more transparent career paths as well as greater flexibility to accommodate market pay. Our research is based on detailed case studies of the approach taken to job families at Oxfam, British Museum, University of Surrey, Financial Services Authority and Fife Council.

New research coming soon will include HR Studies on managing stress, training strategies and coaching and mentoring.
